Our founder’s story
Built through setbacks. Popped with purpose.
Suraj S. Bellani’s journey has never been a straight line. Years in food retail brought long days, changing conditions, difficult setbacks and the responsibility of starting again. Every chapter taught him to listen to customers, protect quality, work closely with suppliers and keep moving forward when the original plan changed.
When one chapter closed, Suraj chose to rebuild rather than give up. Poppy Do Foods grew from that decision—and from a passion for sharing the timeless crunch of makhana in a fresh, modern and convenient way for families across Canada.
Building a food brand from the ground up takes patience. Product testing, packaging, compliance, dependable supply and earning customer trust all take time. Those challenges did not weaken the vision; they made it clearer: create roasted snacks with care, consistency and flavour, and build the brand one honest step at a time.
For Suraj, Poppy Do is a reminder that a setback does not have to be the end. Sometimes it becomes the beginning of something stronger.
Today, that determination lives in every Poppy Do product—from bold 70 g flavoured jars to the versatile 200 g plain polybag. It is a story of roots, resilience and the belief that better days can begin with one satisfying crunch.
